If you’re considering penis enlargement surgery, you may wonder if you need to be circumcised. Circumcision is a surgical procedure that removes the foreskin from your penis. Many men get circumcised as infants. Generally, circumcision is performed for religious or cultural reasons. However, it’s not typically medically necessary. So, what are your options for penile enhancement if you’re uncircumcised?
The answer to this common question often comes down to your individual circumstances. Our surgeon will discuss the pros and cons of each procedure based on a wide range of factors. In some cases, we may recommend circumcision before your penis enlargement surgery. However, in other cases circumcision may not be necessary. During your consultation, we’ll talk about the options and whether you’re a good candidate for the procedure.
Phalloplasty procedures for lengthening generally involve dividing the suspensory ligament, which is a ligament that holds your penis to the pubic bone. Releasing this ligament can allow more of the penis to hang outside the body to help it appear longer when flaccid.
After a lengthening procedure, patients typically must start a regimen of stretching to help elongate the penis. Uncircumcised patients may experience foreskin swelling. In these cases, you may need to wait until swelling goes down to begin using the stretching device.
Once again, much of this comes down to your individual circumstances. It’s important to discuss the particulars of penis enlargement surgery with our surgeon to help you determine what’s right for you.
The most common penis widening procedure we perform is fat transfer. This involves taking fat cells from another part of your body, such as the pubic fat pad, thighs, or abdomen. We then purify the fat and inject it into the skin of your penis to help enhance girth. If you’re uncircumcised, we transfer the fat throughout the penis except the foreskin. Transferring fat to the foreskin may cause swelling or uneven results. Therefore, it’s important to have an experienced, board-certified cosmetic surgeon perform your widening procedure.
Once again, in some cases we may recommend getting circumcised before your penis enhancement procedure based on the particulars of your case. We’ll talk about the different options and what our surgeon recommends based on your specific situation.
